With less than a month to go before the release of the live-action Attack on Titan film in Japan, related merchandise and tie-in collaborations have brought us everything from point cards to hot dogs in recent days.
Whether you’re anxiously awaiting the movie’s opening date here in Japan or further abroad, there’s one way everyone can join in the celebrations: with a giant Oreo cookie. Check out the delicious recipe after the jump, complete with all the mouth-watering step-by-step details. A snack this sweet and giant-sized is sure to stop any Colossal Titan in its tracks!
The supersize Oreo might look overwhelming but don’t be intimidated by its size – it’s easier to make than you think!
Ingredients:
530 grams (18.7 ounces) plain flour
350 grams (12.4 ounces) sugar
16 grams (0.6 ounces) baking powder
100 grams (3.5 ounces) black cocoa powder
70 grams (2.5 ounces) mixed cocoa powder (regular cocoa powder and black cocoa powder blended in a 2: 3 ratio)
14 eggs
210 grams (7.4 ounces) vegetable oil
140 grams (4.9 ounces) milk
1 teaspoon salt
Butter or baking spray for coating the silicon moulds (You’ll need a couple of jumbo silicon cookie moulds to get that classic Oreo shape)
Filling:
1 bag of Oreo cookies
400 milliliters (1.7 cups) fresh cream
15 grams (0.53 ounces) sugar
Step 1. Give the inside of the moulds a good coating with butter or baking spray.
Step 2. Sift the flour and baking powder into a large mixing bowl. Then add the sifted black cocoa powder and mixed cocoa powder and combine well.
Step 3. Blend 14 (!) eggs in a bowl until light and fluffy.
Step 4. Add the salt and slowly blend the sugar in with the eggs in two or three batches. Finally, mix in the vegetable oil until well combined.
Step 5. Add the flour and cocoa mix to the eggs and fold in thoroughly until you get a beautiful, glossy texture.
Step 6. Add the milk to the combined mixture.
Step 7. Pour into the moulds and bake for 40 minutes in a 180-degree Celsius (356-degree Fahrenheit) preheated oven.
Step 8. Check if the cake mix is done by piercing it with bamboo skewer. If it comes out clean, you’re ready to trim the top of the cake to create a flat surface. Turn both of the cookie-shaped pieces out onto a couple of racks to cool.
Step 9. Time to get started on the filling! First, beat the fresh cream and sugar together.
Step 10. Open a bag of Oreo cookies and, being careful not to eat the whole packet, break them into a medium-sized bowl.
Step 11. Blend the biscuits in with the cream mixture. Again, exercise extreme caution while blending as you may experience a growing urge to dive open-mouthed into the sweet concoction.
Step 12. Coat the inner surface of one cookie cake with the cream and Oreo mix.
Step 13. Add the final cookie cake layer and your creation is complete!
Now it’s time to eat! While the sugar and calories in one whole giant Oreo might tip a Titan into serious heart-attack territory, one slice is just enough to put a smile on a mere mortal’s dial.
▼ Cookie and cream lovers, welcome to heaven!
We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the coming of the Titans than with this colossal Oreo Cookie. With a scheme this deliciously gorgeous, it’s bound to make even Levi crack into a toothy grin!
